How we govern content
SupervisorReviews is an advisor-review platform for students and researchers. Reviews about named individuals demand careful governance, so we operate three layers: pre-publication automated screening, human moderation of every report, and separate per-item review of third-party archived content. This page explains how these mechanisms actually work.
Automated pre-publication screening
Every review passes an automatic content check at submission. The following categories are rejected outright: extreme violence and criminal threats, sexual-offence language, self-harm content, insulting or cursing language, and any contact information (phone numbers, ID numbers, email addresses — to protect private individuals).
Screening does not affect ordinary experience-sharing: factual descriptions of mentoring style, research resources and lab atmosphere — positive or negative — publish normally.
Anonymity
Reviews are displayed fully anonymously. Posting requires email sign-in; identity is traceable internally to deter abuse but is never disclosed to any third party.
Reports and human moderation
Every review has a report button with categorized reasons (fake, personal attack, privacy, other). An administrator reviews each report and acts on it: false or violating reviews are edited or removed, and repeat offenders are banned.
Third-party archived content
Reviews marked "Source: DaoshiPingJiaWang (third-party open-source archive)" come from a public third-party platform. They undergo per-item human review, independent from user reviews, before display; content involving serious allegations is never shown.
Such content represents the original posters' views only and is not verified by us. If you are the subject of such content and believe it infringes your rights, contact us via the support email — we respond within 7 business days and remove verified content.
Rights of the reviewed and appeals
Any reviewed advisor has the right to appeal. Contact us at support@supervisorreviews.com with specifics; verified false, defamatory or privacy-violating content is removed regardless of its source (user reviews or third-party archives).
Consequences of violations
Accounts posting fake, abusive or privacy-violating content face escalating consequences: required edits, content removal, and permanent bans for serious or repeated breaches.
